Sports Social Media Manager

Overview: The Sports Social Media Manager is in charge of creating and distributing sports content via social media and reports to the Sports Content Director and Mustang News Social Media Manager. Participates in sports breaking news and ensures news gets out quickly and accurately via the most appropriate platforms. Should be well-versed in multimedia with skills in video, design, storytelling and number crunching of analytics. Engagement is key; when tasked by the Sports Content Director, the Sports Social Media Manager may be the public voice for Mustang News Sports in the community, which includes answering comments on social media. Looks for new methods of telling stories digitally and utilizing the ever-evolving social media channels. They will mainly communicate with the Sports Copy Editor, Sports Video Editor and KCPR Sports Manager to create post-publication content.
Responsibilities:
• Coordinate with sports team to produce and deliver sports news across social media platforms (including, but not limited to, Twitter, Instagram).
• Coordinate with Sports Video Editor and Videographers to facilitate videos such as Power Play and produce Game Day promotion.
• Schedule weekly check-ins with the MN and KCPR Social Media Manager to distribute content budgeting.
• Collaborate with Marketing and PR Manager to plan and execute expansion of social media platforms.
• Keep up with current social media trends and strategize ways for social content to stay on the cutting edge. 
• Manage community engagement around news posts, such as retweeting, responding to messages and comments, etc.
