Marketing and PR Research Strategist

The Mustang Media Group Marketing and PR team is looking for a determined and collaborative individual to join the team for the 2023-24 school year. The marketing team is responsible for planning on-campus events to distribute new issues and special editions and overall expand awareness of Mustang Media Group to Cal Poly and the greater San Luis Obispo community. The Marketing and PR Research Strategist will be responsible for determining the most effective channels for optimizing Mustang Media Group’s brand presence through on-campus research. This is a brand new position in the marketing team that will influence marketing and PR efforts going forward.

The main goal of this position is to better understand how to successfully communicate with Mustang News’ target audiences. This role requires you to actively engage with Cal Poly students and the greater SLO community through research techniques that may include establishing consistent flier locations, observing interactions with Mustang News booths, conducting student surveys, and evaluating social media communications.

You don’t have to be an expert — we’re looking for an individual who wants to learn and develop their researching and analyzing skills alongside the marketing team.

Time commitment: 6 hours/week.

Students of all majors are welcome to apply. A knowledge of marketing and PR research is preferred.
