Audio Engineer

Audio Engineers are a core part of the production team and assist in operating all KCPR live sessions and live events. They should be passionate about the local music arts scene in SLO and have a strong understanding of how to mic instruments, mix live shows, and mix and master audio in post using a DAW. They must also be able to communicate effectively with band members to create high-quality front-of-house, monitor, and recorded mixes.

Qualifications

  • Strong understanding of live event production and audio engineering.
  • Access to a DAW (Ableton, Logic, ProTools, etc.)
  • Ability to work on a Zoom LiveTrak L-20 mixer.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Currently a musician.
  • Proficient in Adobe Premiere Pro.

Responsibilites

  • Learning the KCPR equipment and all the capabilities of our Zoom LiveTrak L-20 mixer.
  • Complete 3–5 mixes per semester.
  • Coordinate with production director, bands, and video editors.
  • Advise stagehands on proper mic setup.
  • Ensuring smooth stage operations and recording during live sessions.
  • Attending weekly meetings to check in with station members and managers.
  • Enrolling in JOUR 320.
