KCPR.org Content Writer

KCPR content writers are responsible for curating the content for KCPR.org, the blog associated with Cal Poly’s on-campus radio station, KCPR 91.3 FM. KCPR content writers demonstrate passion for reporting on local arts, student life and culture, as well as an interest in the realm of new and alternative music. KCPR content writers will also have the opportunity to work with local entertainment entities in our community, possibly earn press passes to live music events and interviews with musical artists.
Responsibilities include:

  • Pitch and cover arts and student life stories affecting the campus community across Mustang Media Group platforms
  • Report and respond to the KCPR content director and editorial assistant in a timely manner
  • Attend weekly KCPR section meetings, all-staff MMG meetings and upon selection, must enroll in JOUR 320 for the duration of the 2025-26 academic year
  • Demonstrate interest and passion for reporting on local arts and culture as well as serves KCPR’s audience as a liaison for new and alternative music
  • Willing to uphold standards of diversity, inclusion, and communication with members of the San Luis Obispo community.
  • Contribute feature stories and interactive content to “The Peak,” Mustang Media Group’s arts digital magazine.
  • Attend weekly Sunday editorial meetings
