The Sports Social Media Team Member plays a key role in executing Mustang News Sports’ digital strategy by assisting with the creation, scheduling, and distribution of sports content across various social media platforms. Reporting to the Sports Social Media Manager, this team member helps ensure accurate and timely coverage of sports events, contributes to digital storytelling efforts, and engages with the Mustang News audience in real time. This is a collaborative, creative position for someone passionate about sports journalism and digital media.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in creating and publishing sports content to social media platforms such as X (formerly Twitter) and Instagram.
- Collaborate with the Sports Social Media Manager to brainstorm engaging sports content and post-publication strategies.
- Support production of video-based content, including Game Day promos and Power Play, by working with the Sports Video Editor and Videographers.
- Track and report engagement analytics to the Social Media Manager and Sports Content Director as needed.
- Engage with Mustang News followers by responding to comments, sharing community reactions, and maintaining a consistent voice across platforms.
- Stay updated with social media trends and contribute ideas for innovative, interactive, and platform-specific sports storytelling.
- Attend regular check-ins with the MN and KCPR Social Media Managers to align on goals and content distribution plans.
