KCPR Pledge Drive Manager/Merchandise Manager

This position is a great opportunity to become a part of Cal Poly’s legendary and award-winning radio station; KCPR 91.3 FM. 

Overview: For over 55 years KCPR radio has served as one of the constants for music and culture for both Cal Poly and San Luis Obispo while also providing learning opportunities for hundreds of students every year from members of the marketing team to on-air personalities. The KCPR Pledge Drive Manager’s responsibility is to oversee the annual Spring Pledge Drive which brings in donations of over $30,000 through various means and helps provide the funding to keep the station operating. In addition this individual orchestrates tactics to help sell retail merchandise for KCPR in the form of items like t-shirts and hats both online and in stores all across San Luis Obispo.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare a detailed plan months in advance of the launch of the pledge drive.
  • Work with the KCPR Adviser, MMG General Manager, KCPR managers and staff members as well as members of Cal Poly advancement to execute the pledge drive.
  • Oversee numerous giveaways, sweepstakes and contests related to the pledge drive.
  • Work with vendors to ensure that pledge drive merchandise is completed on-time.
  • Ensure that pledge drive merchandise is shipped to donors by the end of the academic year.
  • Ensure that inventories for retail merchandise are accurately reported and that all orders are shipped on-time.

  • Candidate must be self-motivated, organized, personable, and able to communicate with a variety of managers and stake-holders
  • Strong organizational skills and work ethic
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines
  • Ability to collaborate with numerous managers and fellow staff members
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Prior experience in fund-raising will be given favorable consideration but is not necessary for employment

Compensation:

  • Monthly salary equivalent to around 12 hours per month
  • Bonuses will be made available upon achievement of fiscal goals related to both the pledge drive and merchandise sales.
